History of Medeena National School
Madeena National School is located in the beautiful village of Siambalagaskotuwa on the Narammala wariyapola main road in Kurunegala District in North Western Province and is spreading the flame of education across the country.
This school, which is celebrating its golden jubilee by spreading knowledge and spreading the flame of knowledge in a short period of history, has produced diverse graduates in many directions of the country, and has created a history that is to be commended by them astonishing academicians and generous donors. If this school has evolved into one of the highest quality national schools in the country with all the facilities in about 45 years since its inception, we cannot help but recall the reasons behind it.
Today, this college is not only in our region but also an art gallery that opens the eyes of the students who come and study from all over the country. Our forefathers worked hard with self-confidence and self-sacrifice to become one of the leading schools in Sri Lanka with such excellence.
At present, the school has more than 2500 students and more than 80 teachers, and its success in education, art, culture, sports, literature, social service and other fields is due to the principals who are responsible for their duties, the teachers who have a sense of duty, and the people of the village who have a sense of service and tireless work. .
50 years ago, the students of the village were from the neighboring towns of Nethipolakhedara and Kekunagolla. They went to the schools in Bogamulla for their education. In this case, in the year 1953, on the advice of the late Muhandram Sulaima Leppai from Kureekottu, who was the village head of the area, late Ammayankulam Hameedu Leppai, Parakahakoduwa A. Alithambi, A. Ibra Lebai, Siambalagaskotuwa A. Saliya Leppi, Kahadakahamada A. Ahmed Lebai, A. Thanks to the efforts of Abdul Hameed and Alhaj MA Abdul Samad, the philanthropists Marhams H.L.U.M. Junaid, A.L.M. This school was started with both Sulaimalepi as teachers.
Mr. IMRA was a Member of Parliament for Thandakamuwa during the i period. On 5th January 1954 with 104 students Mr. R. It was started as a government school with Joseph as the first principal. Followed by Mr. A.N. Thangathurai, Mr. WT. Little progress may have been made during Rodrigo's tenure as president. On 01.03.1956, permission was granted to hold classes from Anthikati to 6th standard in this school which was two years old. The number of students in this year was 176. Following this, he became the principal on 22.01.1957; Janab NA who took office. During Samad's time, a 100 x 20 building and teacher's hostel were constructed and on 01.02.1961, G.Ed. (C.D.) classes were also started. At that time, the number of students increased to 267 and the number of teachers increased to 10. In this case, in 1963, with 277 students, Janab K.A. Russell took charge of the school. He was succeeded by M.H.M. Maruf served as Principal and led the school on the path of development.
This school, which was on the path of development, was opened by Janab UMM on 01.07.1965 with 336 students. Ashraf (Retired Tamil District Education Officer) took charge. It may be mentioned that during this period the school achieved many more developments. As a result of his tireless efforts, the then Minister of Education and Culture, Mr. I.M.R.A. A building measuring 80 x 20 and drinking water well was constructed by Eriyakolla. In the period that followed, Marham S.I.Z. Afdeen and Janab A. Meera Sahib also participated in the rapid development of this school as principals.
From 1969 to 1970, from 1971 to 1977, from 1989 to 1992, Janab A. H. M. served as the principal of this college. Mawsur along with 397 students and 15 teachers worked on the development of this course. His service period deserves to be engraved in golden letters. Mr. IMRA who was the Minister of Education and Culture during his time. 2 acres of land where the present playground is located was acquired by the Eriyakolla Avs.
On 01.01.1971, the then Member of Parliament Mr. G.W. By Samarasingh, the government upgraded it from a Muslim school to a Maha Vidyalaya with the name Madeena Maha Vidyalayam and also provided a school building measuring 80 x 20 and an agricultural hall measuring 30 x 20. Also, a 40 x 20 size vocational training hall and a 60 x 20 size science laboratory were constructed with the help of alumni and government officials.
